During World War II, he was captured by Italian forces near Jadrija in March 1943 and taken to Šibenik where he was sentenced to death by firing squad. After the capitulation of Italy he was released from prison and joined the Partisans: 5th Brigade, 19 Division. He was killed in action at Zrmanj. 12
